Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)
Breaking The Fifth Wall
Official Website | Trailers & Mo
R | 119 min
Alejandro González Iñárritu‘s Birdman is be like…
–
&
a superhero kinda like Condorman
&
his daughter is Emma Stone
who’s like a strung out/sarcastic Daisy Duck
&
Keaton’s trying to put on a Broadway show
in hopes of reviving his career
but it kinda goes like The Producers
with Zach Galifianakis as the hybrid lovechild
of Zero Mostel & Gene Wilder
&
one of his costars is a jerky Ed Norton
who’s out to spoil all the fun
and steal the spotlight
(and Andrea Riseborough is kinda doing the same thing)
which makes it feel a little About Eve
&
the fragile Naomi Watts is about to break
&
all of it seems like one giant artistical battle
like totally like Black Swan yo!
but not nearly as freaky or freakin awesome
&
but its got shades of the creative long-take editing of
Hitch’s BRILLIANT Rope
&
the even more creative and longer takes of
Alfonso Cuaron’s BRILLIANT Children of Men
&
luckily Amy Ryan is our center of gravity
and source of comfort
so what does it all add up to? an interesting movie with great technique, with a story that kinda grows old after an hour
glad to see Keaton back in action, but Oscars??? psssshah – this aint no Bettlejuice, or even Johnny Dangerously, so if he wins this year, it’s a make-up call for not winning for them roles
Verdictgo: Jeepers Worth A Peepers
Birdman is fly enuff in limited release
and until next thyme the balcony is clothed…

Travis
Webster Hall
September 23rd
Travis is the best. Â Me don’t be needing to tell you how one of their concerts would goesz, considering I saw two of the dudes without the other two dudes and it ended up being third greatestest concert I had ever seen. Â They have a new album out. It’s Travis-y lite. Â Less rocking, but still solid stuff
here’s the…
Setlist – Mother /Â Sing /Â Selfish Jean /Â Pipe Dreams /Â Moving /Â Love Will Come Through /Â Driftwood /Â Warning Sign /Â Re-Offender /Â Where You Stand /Â My Eyes /Â Reminder /Â Side /Â Writing To Reach You /Â Closer /Â Slide Show / Blue Flashing Light /Â TurnÂ
Encore - Good Feeling  / Flowers in the Window (Acoustic) / All I Want To Do Is Rock / Why Does It Always Rain On Me? / Mother (played again for a music video recording)Â
anywho, there be two things I really want to make note of…
1) bassist Dougie Payne is married to Kelly Macdonald, who is on Boardwalk Empire. Â guess who was at the show supporting Mr Macdonald? Â None other than castmates Steve Buscemi and Jack Huston (who makes rubber face man still look pretty). Â I’d do all of these people. Â so would you
and
2) speaking of Dougie Payne, apparently he’s gone with a more mature hairdo these days, going up with his locks instead of down, and now he looks exactly like a younger, happier version of one of my MOIST flavorite non-speaking 1 second characters to ever appear on The Office – the Michael Scott mnemonically nicknamed ‘Lazy Eye’ fella in the ‘Lecture Circuit‘ episode (couldn’t find the name of the actual actor, so if you are this actor and you are reading this, hello, I love you, now won’t you tell me your name)
