My father was never very vocal about things that he liked or disliked, but he mos certainly loved himself some of the Mel Brooks/Buck Henry created geniusness that was Get Smart. Back in the late 80s, Nick at Nite started re-airing the eps, and to avoid looking at my father’s mustache, I decided to watch the show with him. Good thing I did, cause without Don Adams’ Agent 86, there may not have been a ThighsWideShut.org. I mean, if I never saw the show, maybe we woulda gonna all .net and shit. But seriously, sans Adams and 86, would Leslie Nielsen have ever become Lt. Frank Drebin? Would Inspector Gadget be Inspector Gadget‘s Inspector Gadget that we all know and lub? Would his partner Agent 99, aka Barbara Feldon, gone on to age as poorly as another hottie spy babe of the 60s, Mrs Peel, aka Diana Rigg did? And mos importantly, would Sports Illustrated have ever given away the in-famous shoe phone to new subscribers?
